Reading Week 2008

1 03 2008

Last week was reading week for us university folk, so we took advantage of it with a 4 day trip to the mountains.  We went to Fernie, Kicking Horse, and Sunshine for some snowboarding.  It was a great trip, the weather couldn’t have been better.  All there was for the entire weekend were blue skies, -5C  weather, and great snow.

Verdict:

Fernie:  Snow was AMAZING.  I’ve always heard that they had the best, and it didn’t let me down.  There was awesome powder everywhere, and overall conditions were awesome.  The trees were all completely covered, which made for some very interesting and cool views.  It was very scenic as well.

Kicking Horse:  This mountain was exactly what I like.  Steep, good tree runs, and long runs.  There were a few really hard runs, but they were fun.  We went to the top of the mountain to hit a run that isn’t accessible by the lift.  We had to hike about 10 mins, but it was worth it.  The powder was good, not quite to Fernie’s standards, but the awesome runs made up for it.  I’ll definitely return soon.

Sunshine:  This is kind of our “home base”.  We go here a half dozen times, or more, every year.  It was the first time I’d ever seen sunshine, at Sunshine, so that was nice.

On to the pics:

till next time,

dylan.
